I bought my first car, this 1974 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, brand new from Farrenkoff Chevrolet in Garfield, New Jersey. In September 1974 I paid $4,600 for it, and this car is turning 50 years old this year. I credit my whole family for me still owning the car. My father and two brothers shared the car. But I especially credit my mom, who co-signed the loan. My mom also nicknamed it “NEFE” (in Greek it means “bride”), since I was always with her.
The car is in mint condition and underwent a 100% frame off restoration in 2012. It is completely stock outside in Metalic Bronze (with decals), and I have the stock motor Super T-10 transmission in storage. Some of the upgrades to it include a GM Performance Parts ZZ 430 crate motor with a 5-speed Tremic transmission.
I have fifty years of stories with this Camaro; it’s part of me. I want to throw a birthday party for it to celebrate, but my wife and three sons think I’m nuts. I still love this car!

I like you, bought my 1974 Z28 new and still own it to this very day. Unlike your Camaro, mine was heavily modified back in the seventies and was placed in storage from 1979 until I took it out in 2017.

Congratulations, you have a very Beautiful Z28!!! You have every right to be proud of your car!! I wish you many more years with your car.
I, too had a 1974 Z28 as my 1st car. I kept it showroom clean. People said it always smelled like a new car.
Type LT, auto, aux.lighting, NO a/c(weight consideration). White with Saddle interior, NO STRIPES. Bone stock. I loved the way the LT-1 cam had just the slightest glug sound to it at idle.
If I could have it back, I’d spend a lot of money for it. But, it’ll always be a special life memory for me.
When I was in High School, I purchase a used 1974 Z28 Camaro and I also remember sitting in the drive through window at Jack-in-the-Box listening to the mild lift cam. I sold it after a few years but just purchased another one last week and can’t wait to cruise around town! They are very fun to drive!!!
