‘Pristine collection’ of resto-mods, customs added to Worldwide auction

A fine gathering of custom collector cars and trucks will go to auction on September 5 when Worldwide presents The Pristine Collection of Eric McConnell.

The “boutique auction” held on Labor Day weekend at the company’s Auburn, Indiana, headquarters will present the 17-car collection, with “each car in the offering having been crafted and custom built for aesthetics and performance with no expense spared,” according to a Worldwide Auctioneers news release. 

Each of the vehicles will be offered at no reserve. These include “multiple award-winning cars, including a 2020 Detroit Autorama winner and multiple ISCA Summit Racing first-place award recipients,” Worldwide said.

Worldwide’s 13th annual Auburn Auction with be run as a simultaneous live and online event, the company said, with safe social distancing and sanitation protocols in place. Beside live and telephone bidding, the auction will be run on three online platforms: Proxibid, Invaluble and LiveAuctioneers.

The McConnell collection of resto-mods and customs will be a major highlight of the sale.

“Selling in Auburn as one of the collection’s many highlights is a show-stopping 1962 Chevrolet Bubble Top Pro Street Custom, first-place winner at the 2020 Detroit Autorama, complete with scorching 1,110-HP 555 Chevy big-block engine and Hilborn fuel injection system,” Worldwide notes.

“Also offered are a stunning 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne with Lingenfelter supercharged LT4 engine and five-speed manual transmission, and a unique custom-designed 1936 Fiat Topolino Custom on a ‘32 Ford Chassis, with a 355 small block and Sanderson street rod headers.

“Pristine custom trucks in the collection include a 1954 GMC Custom resto-mod pickup, a no-expense-spared build with 584 Chevy big block power on a TCI chassis, and a show-worthy 1956 Ford Custom resto-mod truck, recipient of multiple first place ISCA Summit Racing awards.”
