AutoHunter Spotlight: 1960 Plymouth Fury Convertible

Can’t go wrong with a convertible cruiser

Power comes from a 318cid V8 coupled with a pushbutton TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Features included power steering, AM radio, and Sport Deck trunk lid. Nineteen-sixty was a big year for the Chrysler Corporation. To address quality issues from the 1957 Forward Look, engineers decided to go with unitized construction for all brands save Imperial. Dressed in Sky Blue with Caribbean Blue complements on the front fenders and Sport Deck trunk ornament, this Plymouth features elegant full-length bodyside chrome, remote driver’s-side mirror, and blue convertible top.

A set of steel wheels with wheel covers is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply tires.

The interior features light blue and white vinyl upholstery accentuated by blue cloth inserts. Conveniences in this Plymouth includes power steering, AM radio, Chrysler Corporation’s famous push-button automatic transmission, and dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The instrument panel consists of a 120-mph speedometer, clock, and gauges indicating the fuel level and coolant temperature. The odometer reads 48,384 miles.

Powering this vehicle is the standard Plymouth V8, a 230-horsepower “wide-block” 318 known as the Fury V-800, A three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission delivers reliable performance.

This vehicle comes factory-equipped with an independent front suspension combined with a solid rear drive axle for a balanced ride. Braking is effectively handled by manual four-wheel drum brakes. The vehicle also features a dual exhaust system that exits at the rear.

The auction for this 1960 Plymouth Fury convertible ends Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. (PDT)

  1. Man I can see me tooling down the boulevard with the top down in this beautiful cruiser. Nothing not to like with this Fury, unless you are shy about standing out.

  2. My family had a new 1957 Belvedere sport coupe. White top over black body with white Sport Tone stripe inside the chrome side spear. Engine was poly V8 with duals and glass packs adds by my dad along with fender skirts. My uncle had a 56 Crown Vic with 292 ci and overdrive. Dad’s Plymouth could take it in quarter mile but with od the Ford was faster on top end.
