AutoHunter Spotlight: 1934 Ford Roadster

The genesis of hot-rodding

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this rotisserie-restored 1934 Ford Roadster, which the seller has owned for 15 years. Power is provided by a 221ci Ford flathead V8 backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Features include an original Ford radio, a hydrostatic fuel sending unit and gauge, vacuum wiper and rear-mounted spare tire, among other options. Finished in black with a tan vinyl interior and convertible top, this 1934 Ford Roadster comes from the seller with a clear Connecticut title in the seller’s name.

This vehicle went through a rotisserie restoration between 2008-11 using original and/or period-correct parts and materials. The body was refinished in black with red pinstripes by Black Horse Automotive Services in Connecticut. Features include amber driving lights, four-piece hood, folding tan convertible top with a glass rear window, rumble seat and a rear-mounted spare tire cover. Chrome features include bumpers, dual horns, grille, headlight housings, tilt-out windshield, cowl lamp housings and dual taillights.

A set of red wire wheels with chrome center caps is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply tires.

The front bench seat and rumble seat were upholstered in tan vinyl during the restoration.

A 90-mph speedometer is flanked by fuel and amperage gauges and supplemented in the center of the dashboard by a kilocycle gauge. The odometer currently reads 33,722 miles, with 5K miles added during current ownership, but the true mileage of this vehicle is unknown.

Power is provided by a 221ci Ford flathead V8 backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include a body-colored firewall, original intake with a single-barrel carburetor, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, oil bath air filter and 6V generator. The seller notes that the water pumps were replaced this year.

The seller states that the frame was sandblasted and painted in 2009.

This 1934 Ford Roadster’s auction ends on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 12:20 p.m. (PDT). Visit the AutoHunter listing for more information and photo gallery.
