Barrett-Jackson countdown: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO

-

Editor’s note: The ClassicCars.com Journal will be covering all of the action during Arizona Auction Week in Scottsdale, Arizona. Check out our other coverage here.

This genuine 9561 COPO Camaro was delivered new at Dale Chevrolet Co. in Waukesha, WI, and will include two certificates of authenticity — one from the COPO Connection and one from Camaro Hi-Performance — along with its NCRS Shipping Data Report when it hits the block at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale.

It is powered by a COPO 427/425 horsepower high-performance engine backed by a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and a BE-code 4.10 positraction rear end. It’s equipped with a cowl-induction system, correct smog equipment, power front disc brakes, 140 mph speedometer, chambered exhaust system and correct spiral shock absorbers.

This COPO rides on original XT color-keyed wheels wrapped in correct Goodyear Polyglas tires, and has a front and rear spoiler package. The interior is a standard Medium Green and the exterior has been refinished in its original shade of Fathom Green.

This is a highly detailed rotisserie restoration performed to concours standards.

  1. Is there no POS car that you all won’t flog for Barrett Jackson or other 2nd round auction? COPO means only some Chevy exex ordered some special items. This car is hardly a blistering 1960s race car Camaro.
