At Pebble Beach, luxury automakers either rent villa-style luxury homes or set up large temporary structures to showcase their newest vehicles and, often, a smattering of historic ones as well.
At the Goodwood Revival in England this weekend, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has taken over the March Motor Works building on the estate grounds and turned it into a replica of the Rolls-Royce stand from the 1959 Earls Court Motor Show in London.
The display is designed to take visitors “on a journey back in time to the glamorous world of the 1950s,” the automaker said in its news release. “For the 2019 Goodwood Revival, the March Motor Works will be painstakingly transformed into a replica of the marque’s motor show stand of the period.”
The centerpiece is an example of the company’s “pinnacle product of the Revival period,” a 1959 Silver Cloud I 2-door drophead coupe by H.J. Mulliner in black and red with matching hood (roof).
In addition to the re-creation of the auto show display, Rolls-Royce is providing a 9,500-mile 1961 Silver Cloud II long-wheelbase sedan in Sage Green over Smoke Green as part of the course director’s entourage for use on the track during the vintage races.
“Invited guests will have the opportunity to experience the marque’s defining ‘magic carpet ride’ in surroundings where the only audible sound is, famously, the ticking of the mechanical dashboard clock,” the company added of the fleet of vehicles it is providing to shuttle VIPs to and from the event.
