AutoHunter Spotlight: 1970 Pontiac GTO

The grown-up Goat

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this restored 1970 Pontiac GTO two-door hardtop. Power comes from a 400cid V8 backed by a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Features include Safe-T-Track differential, Rally II wheels, front bucket seats with center console, power steering, air conditioning, and more. Finished in Atoll Blue with white vinyl top over a blue vinyl interior, this GTO will be sold with a clear title in the seller’s name.

The Atoll Blue body is topped with a white vinyl roof (codes 28 A) per the data plate. Equipment includes driver’s side mirror, wheel well trim, rocker panels, and owner-added spoiler.

A set of Rally II wheels with red center caps are wrapped in redline radial rubber.

The Dark Blue vinyl (code 250) interior features front bucket seats, the standard Deluxe steering wheel, rubber floor mats, and simulated woodgrain dashboard highlights. Options include power steering, center console, air conditioning, and radio.

The instrument panel includes a 140-mph speedometer. Added in recent years is a multi-information gauge that includes a generator warning light and readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer currently shows 80,051 miles.

The engine is the 350-horsepower 400 that was standard on the GTO. It is currently equipped with a new all-altitude four-barrel carburetor. The transmission is the optional wide-ratio M20 four-speed manual.

Slowing to a standstill is performed by four-wheel manual brakes. This car likely has 3.23 gears as it’s equipped with air conditioning, but this Goat is also graced with the optional Safe-T-Track limited-slip rear. A new fuel tank has also been installed.

The auction for this 1970 Pontiac GTO two-door hardtop ends Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. (MST)
