AutoHunter Spotlight: 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS

Before the rally-inspired WRX, Americans got this

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, an all-wheel-drive sedan powered by a 2.5-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes fog lamps, sunroof, custom audio system, and tinted windows. Finished in silver over a black and gray cloth interior, this first-generation Impreza is now offered with owner’s booklets, window sticker, service records, two Viper alarm key fobs, spare floor mats, and clean CARFAX report and clear title.

The exterior was resprayed in the original color of Silverthorn Metallic (code 792) in 2021. Per the seller, it shows some overspray as well as flaking on the rear bumper. Features include fog lamps, hood scoop, fender-mounted side markers, power sunroof, sport tailpipe, and rear spoiler.

The aluminum 16-inch six-spoke wheels have been painted black and are wrapped in 205/55 GT Radial Touring VP Plus tires.

The interior is furnished with black and gray patterned cloth with bucket seats up front. Features include power windows and door locks, leather-wrapped steering wheel with variable-assist power steering, tilt-adjustable steering column, cruise control, air conditioning, map lights, 12-volt power outlet, and leather-wrapped shift knob. The custom audio system features a Pioneer touchscreen head unit, four JL Audio speakers, JL Audio 10-inch subwoofer in a trunk, and JL Audio 2500-watt five-channel amplifier.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, 8,000-rpm tachometer, digital clock, and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 162,580 miles, which lines up with the most CARFAX report.

The EJ251 2.5-liter flat-four is rated at 165 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a console-shifted four-speed automatic transmission and viscous limited-slip rear differential.

Stopping power comes from four-channel anti-lock disc brakes. A four-wheel independent suspension assists with the handling.

A California emissions inspection was performed in January 2024. The seller has provided a series of short videos that show the exterior, interior, engine bay, and a driving demonstration, one of which can be seen below (go to the auction page to see them all).

The auction for this 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS ends Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. (MST)
