Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. It is powered by a 394cid V8 backed by three-speed 4-S Hydramatic Drive automatic transmission. Features include bucket seats, center console with tachometer, power steering and brakes, and air conditioning. Finished in Garnet Mist over a maroon vinyl interior, this Starfire comes with a clear title in the seller’s name.

In late 2023, the body was repainted in Garnet Mist (code L). Features include fender-mounted antenna, Starfire-specific aluminum side trim, rocker moldings, and rear panel trim. A walk-around video is available below.

A set of 15-inch black steel wheels with simulated wire wheel covers is wrapped in 205/75 (front) and 215/75 (rear) whitewall radials.

The cabin is furnished with maroon vinyl bucket seats. Features include a center console with transmission shifter, and air conditioning. The seller states that the dashboard was replaced under previous ownership, and that the AM radio works but currently only plays static.

The instrument panel consists of a 120-mph speedometer, warning lights, and fuel gauge. A 6,000-rpm tachometer is mounted at the front of the center console. The odometer reads 9,444 miles, though the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

Power is provided by a 345-horsepower 394 Starfire V8 backed by a 4-S Hydramatic Drive automatic with three forward speeds. The seller states an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor has been installed in lieu of the original.. A video of the engine running can be seen on the auction page.

This Starfire was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear-drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. A video of the undercarriage is available for viewing available for viewing on the auction page.

  1. From 1961 on all GM automatics ( except Cadillac ) were the new Slim-jim 3 speed units so is the unit in this car a replacement? Don’t know what a 4-S Hydramatic is. How long has the current owner had the car and does he know where it’s been and how many previous owners??
