I had a 326 LeMans Sport- absolutely front engine but a transaxle/swing axle rear. Evil handling at the limit, and the fragile caternary “rope” driveshaft finally caused me to give up. A fun car for a bit, tho’.
The first year for the LeMans Sport was 1970. Yours was prob just a LeMans.
air cooled engines
Don’t know much about the LAncia, knew the Porsche had a transaxle, knew the Tempest had a “rope” driveshaft and thought it had a transaxle, the VW threw a curve ball with the engine location until I realized that meant is had a transaxle, and I knew the DAF was the only one with a CVT (first in the world I think), but wasn’t sure about the transmission. Guessed transaxle and kept my fingers crossed. Cool quiz!
I am going with they all had aluminum engines
