AutoHunter Spotlight: 1999 Pontiac 30th Anniversary Trans Am

The Firebird that made good at Daytona

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 32,641-mile 30th Anniversary Edition 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Like all anniversary cars, this Trans Am featured the WS6 package and is powered by an LS1 5.7-liter Ram Air V8 backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. Other features include power windows, mirrors, and locks, tilt steering column, tinted removable roof panels, air conditioning, and more. Finished in white with blue stripes over a white leather interior, plus Daytona 500 pace car regalia, this Trans Am comes comes with a window sticker, owner’s manual, 30th Anniversary cargo mat, clean CARFAX report, and clear title in the seller’s name.

Thirty years before, the Trans Am debuted in the middle of the 1969 model year. Loosely based on the Firebird 400, the WS6 Trans Am package added the 335-horsepower 400 HO engine, ram air induction with special fiberglass hood, 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear, fender extractors, rear decklid airfoil, special steering wheel, Cameo White paint with Tyrol Blue stripes, and a few more options. It was the inspiration for the 30th Anniversary Edition, which included specific exterior and interior upgrades such as the paint and stripes, 17-inch blue-tinted wheels and numbered ID plaque.

The exterior is wearing the factory-applied Arctic White paint, blue stripes, and both 30th Anniversary Edition and 1999 Daytona 500 Official Pace Car graphics. Features include Ram Air hood, tinted removable roof panels, power antenna, color-keyed mirrors, and rear spoiler.

A set of 30th Anniversary-specific blue-tinted 17-inch aluminum wheels is wrapped in 275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

The front buckets and rear seat are upholstered in White Prado leather. Power options include driver’s seat, windows, locks, mirrors, and antenna. Additional features include air conditioning, tilt steering column, 500-watt Monsoon AM/FM/CD stereo with tweeters in the rear quarter panels (RPO W55), cruise control, rear window defroster, remote keyless entry, and center console with transmission shifter. The 30th Anniversary Edition package added white door inserts with “Trans Am” lettering, blue front headrest embroidery, a badge identifying this car as #724 of 1,600 made, and black floor mats with 30th Anniversary logos.

The instrument panel includes a 155-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 32,641 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.

Power is provided by a 320-horsepower LS1 5.7-liter Ram Air V8 backed by a four-speed automatic transmission.

This Trans Am was factory-equipped with the WS6 Ram Air Performance and Handling Package, which included a low-restriction dual exhaust system, tuned suspension, power steering cooler, and 3.23 rear axle ratio. Braking is handled by four-wheel power anti-lock discs.

The online auction for this 30th Anniversary Edition 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am ends on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. (PDT)
