Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this frame-off restored 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible that has been in the hands of the current owner for 28 years. It is powered by a rebuilt 400cid V8 backed by a Muncie four-speed manual overdrive transmission. Features include a notchback front bench seat, upgraded AM/FM stereo, and Yukon Gear Positraction assembly. Finished in Linden Green with a black vinyl interior and convertible top, this garage-kept GTO comes with PHS Historic Services documentation, receipts and records from the restoration, the original three-speed manual transmission, and a clear title in the seller’s name.
Nineteen sixty-seven is a unique year for GTO fans. It was the last of the generation that got its start in 1964, yet featured many mechanical upgrades, like the 400 engine, that would be carried over into the 1968 redesign. It was the year that General Motors banned multiple carburetion except for the Corvette, so Pontiac’s trademark Tri-Power was no more, though the new Rochester Quadrajet carburetor was found to be a fine substitute for the higher-horsepower engines like the 400 High Output and the 400 Ram Air. Perhaps the most important change was the introduction of the TH400 three-speed automatic, which was a much-needed replacement of the two-speed automatic that had been the only self-shifting choice since 1964. All these and other improvements made the 1967 GTO the best of the bunch though, of course, the earlier 389 cars have their following too.
During its 2005 frame-off restoration, the GTO’s exterior was refinished in the original Linden Green (code H) hue. Features include a non-functional hood scoop, black pinstripes, rocker and wheel well moldings, and power-operated black convertible top.
A set of black steel wheels with standard Pontiac Motor Division hubcaps is wrapped in Coker Firestone Wide Oval redline radial tires.
The interior, including the unusual notchback front bench seat with armrest, is upholstered in black vinyl. Features include a floor-mounted Hurst shifter, standard gauges, power steering, and Custom Autosound AM/FM stereo with factory-style faceplate.
The instrument panel consists of a 120-mph speedometer, fuel gauge, and idiot lights. The odometer currently reads 8,174 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Power is provided by the reportedly original 400cid V8, which was rated at 335 horsepower when new. The original floor-shifted three-speed manual (which is included with the sale) has been replaced by a Muncie four-speed manual with an overdrive gearset. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. According to the seller, the engine was rebuilt in 2022.
This GTO was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear-drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. The original 3.55-geared rear end has been updated to a Yukon Gear & Axle Positraction unit with 3.23 gears. This past year, a rear stabilizer bar was installed.

Beautiful car, my first car was a 1967 gto hardtop with the hurst dual gate shiftkit…and was in fact thee car in which my father bought and picked my mom and myself up from the hospital the day I was born.
