AutoHunter Spotlight: Spotlight: 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Rare chance at a low-mileage, highly-optioned C5 ‘vert!

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Z51.

The fifth-generation, or C5, Chevrolet Corvette has been a favorite of enthusiasts ever since it was launched in 1997. One of the reasons it became so popular was because that was the era when Chevy installed a small-block “LS” engine into the Corvette (in this case, a 5.7-liter V8 boasting 345 horsepower). This 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 convertible is offered for sale with only 35,677 miles on its odometer and comes well-optioned with dual-zone automatic climate control, Active Handling, and a Bose audio system. This ‘Vette also offers a clean CARFAX report and a window sticker showing an original vehicle purchase price of $51,484 including destination.

Painted in Navy Metallic, this low-mileage Corvette has been accented in red for the hood striping and rear badges. Additional exterior features include retractable headlights, daytime running lamps, fog lamps, chrome lighting accents, and quad polished exhaust outlets. The cloth Light Oak top is manually-operated.

Putting power to the pavement is a staggered set of Hankook Ventus V12 tires that have been wrapped around the factory five-spoke polished aluminum alloys, sized 17 inches up front and 18 inches in the rear.

Inside the cockpit, we find a two-seat layout with Light Oak bucket seats that have Corvette embroidery on the backrests. The door panels, lower dash, carpeting, and floor mats have the same hue, and the remainder of the cabin is finished in contrasting black. This C5 comes well-equipped with a multi-function steering wheel, a Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, and power windows.

Large, analog instruments include the 200-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and supporting readouts for voltage, fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The most compelling selling factor about this 23-year-old Corvette has covered only 35,677 miles since new. The CARFAX report shows that it has been Florida-owned its entire life, initially sold to its first owner in July of its model year from Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet.

Under the hood of this C5 lives a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 which was rated at 345 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, and power is fed rearward through a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Additional mechanical equipment includes four-wheel power disc brakes, Active Handling, and Performance Handling (code Z51). The Z51 package came with higher rate springs, stiffer shock absorbers, and larger stabilizer bars for optimized handling.

A custom car cover is included with the sale of this exceptional C5 Corvette, so check out the auction and add it to your watch list today.

The auction for this 2000 Chevrolet Corvette ends on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. (PDT)
