Monterey Regional Airport Gets Racy with INDYCAR Display

The Grand Prix of Monterey takes place September 8-10

On Tuesday, April 17, in the early morning hours, Monterey Regional Airport commuters may have caught a glimpse of the Racecar Transporter rolling past the runway on its way to unload an INDYCAR vehicle into the terminal.

The car is part of a promotion with WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to promote the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, NTT INDYCAR SERIES’ season finale event taking place September 8-10 as well as a whole season of premier racing events that happen in Monterey at the historic track.

Along with a permanent display case which showcases the long history of the track and world renowned events in the upstairs hallway of the terminal, the car will certainly turn a head or two stationed directly next to the check in desks. Bright Blue and displayed tilted at a back left angle it gives the impression the car is just about to dive into the famous Corkscrew, a five and a half story twisting drop which both excites and frustrates drivers at the track.

The display also features a chance to win two tickets to the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey and a two-night stay in the Hyatt Regency Monterey. Guests who complete a brief survey, conveniently accessed via the QR code at the display, are automatically entered.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca not only has a long and famed history within the community, but a brightly evolving future as they wrap up a multi-million dollar improvement project and have expanded both the events schedule and creative team in the past year. The entire season Schedule is also on display at the airport and may include some incredible prize giveaways in the upcoming summer months. Commuters and locals headed to the beloved Woody’s Restaurant for lunch are encouraged to stop by the display anytime from now until September.
