Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1955 Chevrolet Nomad built by Joe Martin/Elite Autoworks of “Iron Resurrection” fame. Over $50,000 alone was invested in the exterior paint and detailing. It is powered by a 383ci small-block stroker paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include bucket seats, modern climate control system, RideTech suspension components and power windows, among others. Finished in bright red with custom graphics over a gray interior, this rust-free 1955 Chevrolet Nomad comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
Shorty Ponce shot the PPG Viper Red, with Joe Martin handling the custom flames and ghost skulls (even behind the fuel filler door). Complements include chrome dual side-view mirrors, chrome headlight and side trim, and chrome tailgate trim.
A set of five-spoke aluminum Coys wheels is wrapped in Delinte radials.
The front buckets and rear seat are upholstered in gray vinyl. Features include a custom-fabricated red center console with flame accents, Alpine AM/FM stereo, tilt steering column with automatic shifter, Vintage Air climate controls, and two-spoke aluminum steering wheel with red grip.
The red dashboard features polished aluminum inserts. The instrument panel includes a 140-mph speedometer and combination gauge with read-outs for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature and voltage. The odometer reads 1,110 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
Power comes from a 383ci small-block stroker V8 with 9.5:1 piston built by Gary Willowby of Gary’s Machine Shop. The original Powerglide was replaced by a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Engine features include custom Joe Martin-made valve covers, aluminum RHS Pro Action heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake, Edelbrock 650-cfm AVS carburetor, Patriot 1⅞-inch ceramic long-tube headers and more.
This Nomad is equipped with an independent front suspension with RideTech tubular control arms and Ford nine-inch solid rear axle mounted with a RideTech four-link. Braking has been upgraded with a chrome CPP master cylinder assisting the 13-inch CPP power front disc brakes. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found on the auction page.

I love Joe Martin’s work.I really enjoy watching his show.The Nomad is great looking but I personally would have put different wheels on it.Great car!!
