E-Ray Corvette #001 Will Give You Clout

Bid for charity on 4/15 at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach

-

We know Corvette people can be funny sometimes. Some do the “wave.” Others enjoy picking pebbles from tire treads. But no one would say owning VIN 001 is funny. In fact, it’s kinda cool, and if you’re conscious about what people think of you because you never were the cool kid, then you’re a prime candidate for bidding on the very first 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. Tomorrow, April 15, 2023, at approximately 2:30 EDT, bidding will commence on Corvette E-Ray Number One, and the citizens of the world will be looking directly at you in admiration.

Here’s more on the cool car for the cool guy or gal you most certainly are: Corvette E-Ray VIN 001 will be the 3LZ trim level, which is not yet clearly defined by Chevrolet other than we can infer that it’s the most loaded trim level of the bunch. For insight, we can look at the standard Corvette coupe, which is available in 1LT, 2LT or 3LT trim levels. The latter includes GT2 bucket seats as part of a cockpit that surrounds you in sueded microfiber and carbon fiber trim. Other features include folding heated side mirrors, Bose Performance Series 14-speaker audio system, cargo nets, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System, HD cameras front and back, heads-up display, wireless charging and more. There are also many available options exclusive to the LT3 that aren’t available on the lesser two trim levels, and we expect the E-Ray’s 3LZ trim level to follow a similar pattern.

Of course, the cool car you’re bidding on is the world’s first hybrid Corvette. Remember when “hybrid” made you recoil? Nowadays, it’s a hint how technology can further the performance of performance cars. The specs for the E-Ray include standard e-AWD and a combined 655 horsepower for a 0-60 sprint in 2.5 seconds and 10.5 seconds down the quarter mile. Compare that to an L88 Corvette, a car that was not even available with a radio and required something akin to aviation gas, yet likely can’t achieve those numbers without losing street-legal status. Yet let’s not forget the E-Vette is not the Corvette to end all Corvettes by design — it’s the Corvette for people who lean towards the GT side of sports cars.

So maybe you’ll be the cool kid 40 years too late, but time means nothing when it comes to status. And, with status comes clout, as 100% of the hammer price will benefit DonorsChoose, a charity with a mission to help classrooms in need so we truly can be a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education.

Sounds like a win/win, right, cool person?

  1. More money would be raised if the car was raffled for 6 months or so and would leveled the playing field for the those of us that don’t have an extra million laying around.
