Monterey Car Week: “Epilogue”

Our content manager is back home and collecting his thoughts after Monterey Car Week

Our content manager was on the road covering Monterey Car Week. Part six of his opus is available here

I got back home from Monterey Car Week on Monday evening and took Tuesday off to recover from some serious fatigue. Spirits were high from a great week of cars and good people, but a lot of 15-hour days and an extended drive took a lot out of me.

I realize people work harder and drive farther than me on a daily basis, but I’m a wuss. My grandfather was an interstate truck driver and hopefully he isn’t shaking his head at me in some form of disappointment that belies me being his namesake.

In my defense of being mentally and physically gassed out here are the he final numbers from my funky adventure:

  • 1,814 miles driven
  • 34:23 hours of driving
  • 54.1 mph average speed
  • 42.2 miles per gallon
  • 22.41 miles walked

It’s been almost a week since I got back home to the Valley of the Sun and I’ve been thinking about my favorite experience from Monterey Car Week. There are many highlights, and a part of me feels guilty about anointing one moment over another but after a lot of contemplation I came to a decision:

I got to meet David Coulthard and as a devout Red Bull F1 fan it was beyond dope. Who knew that you could meet a Scottish racing driver at a car event in Northern California? Only at Monterey Car Week.
