McLaren honors Queen Elizabeth II

-

In honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 year reign, British supercar maker McLaren Automotive has unveiled a specially developed platinum silver ‘Platinum Jubilee’ paint and badge. Both features were revealed on a one-off example of the new hybrid supercar, McLaren Artura.

Following the development of a bespoke tool and press to create the badge, MSO and McLaren’s advanced coating’s partner AkzoNobel analysed different lighting conditions to define the most suitable metallic pigment combination. MSO’s paint developers then formulated the desired platinum composition which took eight days to complete including durability and application testing.

“It has been an honour for MSO to create a new platinum paint in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year,” said Ansar Ali, Managing Director – McLaren Special Operations, McLaren Automotive. “This special paint, which will be available for customers to select for years to come, will be a fitting tribute to mark this historic milestone.”

The 2022 Kia EV6 has been named to the list of “Best Hybrid and Electric Cars” by U.S. News & World Report and earned the title of “Best Electric Vehicle” in this year’s awards.

U.S. News determined the winner by analyzing each vehicle’s starting price, Level 2 charging rate, and EPA fuel economy and range estimates among the 82 hybrid, plug-in-hybrid, and electric vehicles under consideration.

“We’ve seen a lot of growth in the electric SUV segment this year, and the all-new Kia EV6 is a top choice with a comfortable and attractive interior, as well as a comprehensive suite of active safety features,” said Jim Sharifi, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “Perhaps the biggest selling point, however, is the EV6’s exceptional driving range of up to 310 miles.”
