Jeep unveils Xtreme Recon package for Wrangler

Factory 35-inch tires and enhanced ground clearance part of $3,995 option package

-

Jeep announced at the Chicago Auto Show that it will offer an Xtreme Recon package for the Wrangler, that the Sunrider Flip Top roof will be available for all Wrangler models, and that it will offer the industry’s first 100:1 crawl ratio on the Wrangler Rubicon later this year.

The Wrangler Xtreme Recon package goes into production in August, will be priced at $3,995, and will include 35-inch tires installed at the factory in Toledo, and offer best-in-class approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance, and enhanced water-fording capability.

“As an icon built around 80 years of unmatched 4×4 capability, the Wrangler has always pushed the limit of what a Jeep can do off road, and the new Xtreme Recon Package with 35-inch tires straight from the factory pushes that limit even further,” said Jim Morrison, Jeep Brand North America vice president.

While the Xtreme Recon Package sets the benchmark for 4×4 capability, the easy-to-use Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop fortifies Wrangler’s open-air spirit.”

The Xtreme Recon Package includes 35-inch BFGoodright KO2 all-terrain tires on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a 4.56:1 axle, 1.5-inch factory suspension lift kit, and reinforced rear swing gate.

Best-in-class approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance and water fording capability was announced as:

  • Approach angle – 47.4 degrees
  • Breakover angle – 26.7 degrees
  • Departure angle – 40.4 degrees
  • Ground clearance – 12.9 inches
  • Water fording – 33.6 inches
Sunrider Flip Top roof available for more Jeep vehicles

The $895 Sunrider Flip Top provides a front-row soft top that Jeep says quickly and easily flips back for an enhanced open-air driving experience.

“The Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop is constructed from ultra-premium black twill fabric common on many high-end luxury convertibles, making it capable of protecting against inclement weather,” Jeep said.

“The new ready-to-install top comes with mounting rails and hardware included and easily installs in place of the hardtop Freedom panels.”
