AutoHunter Spotlight: 1951 Mercury Eight

This custom coupe would be a great St. Patrick’s Day cruiser

-

Today’s AutoHunter Spotlight is on a 1951 Mercury Eight customized two-door coupe that underwent a restoration in 2018 by a hot rod shop in Louisiana.

The Shamrock Green Metallic body features shaved door handles, rounded hood corners and custom pinstriping. In addition, you’ll find chromed lake pipes mounted underneath each side of the car that the seller notes are just for show as there’s a functional dual exhaust system that exits out the rear.

Inside the coupe sit late-model bucket seats upholstered in green and white leather with matching door panels and dark green carpet. The dash sports the exterior green metallic paint and houses a push-button radio.

Power comes from a replacement 281cid V8 equipped with a dual carburetor setup and mated with a console-shifted automatic transmission.

This Mercury Eight’s auction ends June 28 at 11:40 a.m. PDT.
