Sleep at Silverstone: Rental residences planned for British GP track

60 luxury rental residences planned for famed race track

-

“Escapade Silverstone” is the name of a new short-term rental housing development to be installed at the famed Silverstone racing circuit, home to the British Grand Prix and other major motorsports events.

London-based Twelve Architects has designed the complex that will include 60 residences and a clubhouse created to appeal to motorsports enthusiasts.

Such a concept was part of a Silverstone Circuit masterplan approved in 2018 and since then developed to comply with requirements set by the circuit and the British Racing Drivers Club. Construction is to begin later this year with the “luxury branded residences” available beginning in May 2022.

Trackside units have wall between private parking and racing circuit

Since there isn’t room to put all 60 units trackside, different styles of high-spec residences will be offered:

Trackside — The front-row residences will have a direct view of the racing circuit.

Dual-Aspect — These units will offer views of the track and the rolling countryside.

Countryside — These residences will provide greater privacy and views across woodland and the British landscape.

“Large windows to the living rooms of all residences will maximize views to the racetrack, whilst smaller windows and timber louvres to the bedrooms will aid with privacy,” Twelve Architects said in its announcement of the project.

“The terraces to the front row residences are ‘wrapped’ with an angular tensile material that provides privacy and shading whilst supporting the creation of a distinctive brand identity.

“Every residence has ample secure parking, so that guests can bring their own vehicles to race around the world-famous circuit.

60-unit complex is right next to the track

“A clubhouse at the south end of the site will provide guests with a wellness centre, swimming pool, driver-focused gym, treatment rooms, track-briefing area, state-of-the-art simulator rooms, concierge, restaurant and bar promoting social interaction amongst neighbors. A roof terrace will sit directly above the most exciting

complex of corners on the circuit.”

“Escapade Silverstone aims to provide an authentic experience borne out of the world’s foremost racetrack and, as a finished product, fully integrated into it,” said Will Tindall, chief executive of Escapade Living.

“The team at Twelve Architects has interpreted our brief in a way that shows real innovation. The masterplan creates a series of residences positioned carefully within the site to maximize views, whilst the design of the buildings themselves creates a distinctive identity for Escapade that will play an important role in the success of the development.

“The close partnership we have forged with Twelve is integral to realizing our vision of redefining the guest experience for the world’s most discerning motorsports fans.”

Rental prices have yet to be announced. For more information, visit the Escapade Living website.
