A little more than a year ago, we reported on a new scheme in the United Kingdom that was sort of like an Airbnb for driveways. It was called YourParkingPace.co.uk and what it did was connect people who have empty driveways with people who needed a place to park.
A new press release has arrived from the British company reporting that homeowners renting out their driveways had made more than £1,000 ($1,280) on average in the past year in 25 cities, with people with space to rent in London making more than twice that amount on average.
The company said its clients have more than 350,000 of the parking spots placed across the UK.
“Empty driveways continue to offer a significant extra income for households the length and breadth of the UK, which is possibly even more welcome now than ever before,” said Harrison Woods, managing director of the parking space firm.
“With lockdown restrictions being eased and more people returning to their workplace, plus being advised by the government to avoid public transport if possible, we expect a new surge in demand for empty driveways as motorists struggle to find places to park near their places of employment.”
