If you loved ‘Rendevous’ through Paris, you have to watch an ‘Emergency’ drive through Rome

Early-morning high-speed run created to raise money for Italy’s fight against pandemic

-

In an homage to the historic drive through Paris known as Rendevous, and to raise money for the Italian Red Cross as it battles the coronavirus pandemic in a country hit particularly hard, Kidson Productions has created a 5-minute film Rome: C’était une urgence (It was an emergency).

“You’ve seen the original 1970s movie, racing through Paris at dawn, which nearly landed the director in jail,” Kidston Productions wrote as it posted the video on YouTube. “So we asked ourselves: when better during our lifetimes to repeat the feat than now, with empty streets, to raise money for charity and help COVID victims? And which more beautiful city to race through than Rome?”

So, here it is. But three very important notes:

  1. Do not try this at home.
  2. Be sure to watch to the end (trust us, it makes a point).
  3. If you watch the video, you really should promise to make a donation. Here’s the link.
