Editor’s note: Car guys, and even car girls, can take only so much of those Hallmark holiday movies that fill the airwaves and cable systems this time of year. As an automotive alternative, we’re offering our own suggestions of our favorite car movies for your viewing pleasure. Check out more of our favorite car movies here.
Driver Terry Cheveaux was in last place when he took a bathroom break. He came back to find a member of his pit crew, Ricky Bobby, driving his car to a third-place finish.
But Talladega Nights is not the story of Bobby’s racing glory — at least at first. After winning multiple championships, Bobby loses his star racing spot (and wife) to rival driver Jean Girard.
Bobby slides downhill hilariously fast. When he hits rock bottom, he’s delivering pizza by bike and doesn’t even have a driver’s license. That’s when his estranged father, Reese, steps in to reinvigorate Bobby’s career.
Of course, hijinks happen. It’s funny. And Bobby again reaches the pinnacle of racing.
One word: unwatchable.
