The 1964 Ford Cougar II was part of Ford’s mysterious “X-Car” collection and was first featured at the New York World’s Fair in 1964, at the same time as the introduction of the Mustang. The design exercise featured sloping front nose, a deeply curved rear glass, knock-off wire wheels and a two-seat cockpit. The car somehow survived destruction and is now par of the permanent collection of the Detroit Historical Museum
