Knockout: Alfa Romeo once owned by Muhammad Ali up for sale

-

A 1976 Alfa Romeo once owned by Muhammad Ali will be on the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in late September.

The silver Spider convertible (Lot 726) was purchased by the boxing phenom at European Imports in Lake Forest, Illinois. According to the book Running with the Champ, Ali owned it for a short time before passing it to the current owner.

The car will be sold with the original registration, which is signed by Ali.

The Spider is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The odometer reads 80,721, which are believed to be original.

The Alfa appears to be in great shape. The paint looks like it’s bubble-free and the engine compartment looks clean. The black-leather interior seems to be in pristine condition, just waiting for the champ to jump back behind the wheel once again.

The car is being sold with no reserve, but given its provenance, this Alfa could sell for a prize-fight total.
