Buying Bond: Daniel Craig’s Aston Martin sells for more than $460K

-

That’s quite a pricetag, Moneypenny: A 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish owned by James Bond star Daniel Craig sold for more than $460,000 on Friday.

“This Aston Martin Vanquish is a tour de force of automobile engineering and a distinct pleasure to drive,” Craig said in a Christie’s Auction House news release.

The car – appropriately numbered 007, the ID used by the fictional British spy – was just one of 100 made. It has specially numbered sterling silver sill plaques and embroidered headrests.

It’s powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine and should hit a top speed in the neighborhood of 183 mph.

That engine is housed by a lightweight bonded aluminum structure encased in a carbon fiber exterior.

The car is fit for royalty, let alone a spy. It was designed by Marek Reichman, Aston Marton’s chief create officer, who made it to Craig’s liking.

The actor has a preference for denim and dark colors, Reichman decided to paint the exterior a midnight blue and used a deep blue leather on the interior.

The winning bidder will certainly look the Bond part, as the car came with Bang & Olufsen headphones, Aston martin cufflinks and a pen inside a leather accessory box stored in the glove compartment.

The $468,500 sale will benefit the Opportunity Network, a group that works to send children from historically underrepresented communities to college.
