A 1967 Ford Mustang that appeared in the third of the Fast and Furious movies — Tokyo Drift — has been consigned to Carlisle Auctions’ Spring sale, scheduled for April 19-21 at the Carlisle Expo Center in Pennsylvania, the auction company announced.
Long before doing its stunts in the movie, the car was ordered new in 1966 by Tasca Ford, Carlisle noted in its news release. At some point the car went to Hollywood, was purchased by Universal Studios and was turned into a drift car for the movie.
After the filming was completed, the cars used in the movie were sold. The buyer of the Mustang converted it into a resto-mod that, according to Carlisle, “can drive without the movie magic.”
“Not only can buyers and sellers alike expect over 500 consignments for the Spring Carlisle Auction, now they have an opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history too,” Tony Cline, Carlisle Auctions’ director of auction operations, was quoted in the news release.
