Bentley boys (and girls) set for ‘Drive Out’ event in January

-

Sounds like fun, right? A group of vintage Bentleys touring the British countryside together. That’s what figures to happen January 7 when William Medcalf Vintage Bentley hosts its first “Drive Out” event of 2018.

The Medcalf shop in West Sussex is in its third decade of providing sales and service for 1922-1932 Bentleys. Early last year, the shop held its first “drive out” event and it proved so popular a second such event was offered mid-year, with a visit to the Goodwood circuit and a demonstration of a Spitfire aircraft.

Between them, the first two tours drew more than 300 participants.

On January 7, the facility will do its third tour, which will include brunch served by the RAC Club’s Pit Stop catering truck. For other details, contact [email protected].

Ramshorn Rally sets 2018 route

Calling their event the “twisted sister” of the Going to the Sun Rally, organizers of the third Ramshorn Rally have set their route and dates for the event, which is open to air-cooled Porsches and drivers willing to tackle significant daily mileage.

The second Ramshorn was staged in 2017 on roads in Montana, Idaho and Washington. The third event is scheduled for May 19-25, 2018, starting at the Gateway Canyons Resort in western Colorado and traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico, on roads familiar to those who like motorcycle adventure rides.

The route will include the San Juan Highway across Coal Bank Pass, Molas Divide and Red Mountain Pass.

“You will experience the beautiful, twisty road along the rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River,” organizers promise. “From red rocks and desert to 11,000-foot passes above timberline, you won’t be disappointed in the experience.”

From Santa Fe, the rally route runs to Grand Junction, Colorado. For details, visit the rally website.
