AutoHunter Spotlight: 427-Powered 1968 Corvette

Big-block T-topped Chevrolet

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this low-mileage 1968 Chevrolet Corvette coupe powered by a 390-horsepower 427 four-barrel. An M21 four-speed manual transmission. Features include power four-wheel disc brakes, removable roof panels and rear window, AM/FM radio, Rallye wheels, and more. Finished in red with a black vinyl interior, this big-block Vette comes from the selling dealer with the original fuel tank sticker and a clear title.

The original hue for this Corvette was code 976 LeMans Blue. Features include removable roof panels, rear-mounted antenna, chrome driver-side rear-view mirror, and chrome exhaust tips. A walk-around video can be seen below.

A set of 15-inch Rally wheels is wrapped in Street Hawk Radial SR60 tires.

The cockpit features two black vinyl bucket seats. Other features include a center console with manual transmission shifter, and AM/FM radio.

The instrument panel consists of a 160-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage. A clock is also included with the set of gauges. The odometer currently reads 45,927 miles, which is reportedly original.

The reportedly numbers-matching L36 427 four-barrel was factory-rated at 390 horsepower. The engine features chrome valve covers and air cleaner housing. It is backed by a close-ratio M21 four-speed manual transmission.

This 1968 Corvette features a four-wheel independent suspension with rear-drive axle and power four-wheel disc brakes. Of course, a dual exhaust system handles the emissions. The seller reports the original fuel tank sticker is present.

The auction for this 427-powered 1968 Chevrolet Corvette coupe ends Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. (PDT).
