AutoHunter Spotlight: 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS

Restored and upgraded bright red convertible

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible equipped with an upgraded 409cid V8.

“The Impala full-sized model first launched in 1958 on Chevrolet’s B-body platform as a top-line trim for the Bel Air hardtops and convertibles, with longer, lower, and wider dimensions compared to its predecessors,” AutoHunter notes in the Impala’s listing. “The Impala name later became a standalone model, with exterior aesthetics transitioning to a boxier design and with trim levels expanding to include a Super Sport option.”

According to the seller, this Impala was resprayed in its original Roman Red paint sometime prior to 1995 when the seller took ownership. The retractable white cloth top was replaced in 2015.

The all-red interior was redone in 2015, which included reupholstering the fold-forward bucket seats, door panels and dash. Amenities include an internet-based alarm system with GPS location and an AM/FM/cassette radio.

The car’s 402cid V8 is equipped with a chrome-finished air cleaner, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock valve covers, and an oversized radiator with an electric fan. The engine is linked to a 4-speed 700R4 transmission sourced from a 1987 Chevrolet Corvette.

This Impala’s auction ends October 28 at 12:00 p.m. PDT.
