RM Sotheby’s recent online auction Open Roads realized more than $5 million in sales and an 89 percent sell-through rate for its offering of 77 collector cars and 300 lots of memorabilia.
The auction, which concluded November 20, received more than 3,800 bids, RM Sotheby’s said, with bidders from 34 countries taking part. Several of the cars and items on the platform were subjects of spirited bidding that required extensions of their deadlines.
The sales were led by a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTC coupe by Pininfarina, the 49th of 150 produced, that sold for $660,000 (all results include auction fees).
Among the vehicles sold by RM Sotheby’s were a pair of scaled-down Ferrari driving cars for children, a 500 F2 prototype from the 1950s that went for $18,600 and a 1956 Bimbo Racer rendition of a Barchetta, for $12,600.
The top 5 highest selling collector cars were:
1. 1969 Ferrari 365 GTC, at $660,000
2. 2005 Ford GT, at $522,500
3. 1951 Porsche 356 Reutter coupe, at $330,000
4. 2005 Ford GT, at $291,500
