Lotus unveils plug-and-play track-day dashboard

Unit includes more than 4,000 tracks around the world

-

Lotus Cars has developed a plug-and-play digital dashboard designed to enhance track-day events for drivers of its vehicles. The Digital Instrument Pack fits Lotus Elise and V6 Exige cars produced since 2008, the company said.

The digital dash includes track data from more than 4,000 racing circuits around the world and is integrated with GPS technology and lap-performance indicators to measure, record and display such things as racing lines and lap times.

Lotus said drivers can incorporate video from a portable “action camera” into the system.

The digital dashboards are priced at £1,470 (about $1,850). Lotus said the units will be available in international markets where the Elise and V6 Exige are sold.

Chris Hinks, Lotus aftersales director, said in the announcement that the Digital Instrument Pack is designed for drivers who want to take their Lotus track day experience to the next level.

“We know our customers appreciate the motorsport heritage of Lotus cars and love to use their own vehicles on track days,” he said. “Integrating a Digital Instrument Pack into an Elise or Exige is only going to enhance that experience.”
