Remaining items from Texas museum on sale this weekend

This weekend, the remaining contents of the Dick’s Classic Garage museum in San Marcos, Texas, will be offered at auction to further fund the Richard L. Burdick Foundation’s work to provide scholarships and funding for various charities. 

On Labor Day weekend in Auburn, Indiana, a Cord, an Auburn and a Duesenberg from the museum sold for a combined $1.23 million at RM Auctions’ sale during the ACD Festival. A month later, another 18 cars from the collection went to RM Sotheby’s annual auction at Hershey, Pennsylvania.

This weekend, the remaining contents of the museum will be offered at auction to further fund the Richard L. Burdick Foundation’s work to provide scholarships and funding for various charities. 

Burdick died in February 2018 at the age of 88. He competed for 25 years in the Great Race for vintage vehicles, winning the Grand Championship five times. In addition to his car museum (which began in 1982 as the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History), he founded Thermon Manufacturing, a heat-transfer systems provider which grew to become an international company.

The final dozen or so vehicles from the museum plus around 400 items of automobilia will be offered up for bidding Saturday, January 12, in San Marcos, Texas, in a sale conducted by Burley Auction Gallery.
