Custom convertible with upgraded 350cid V8 is up for bidding

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this custom 1940 Mercury Eight convertible that received a nut-and-bolt restoration under prior ownership.

This second-year model Mercury Eight is finished in Cadillac Inferno metallic red with refinished brightwork and a replaced Hartz cloth convertible top in black.

The interior houses custom-pleated light-beige leather bench seats with matching door panels and a color-matched red dashboard.

Other interior features include a tilting steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Vintage Air AC and a Pioneer stereo system with a 10-disc CD changer located in the trunk.

Power comes from a 350cid small-block Chevrolet V8 paired with a 700R4 four-speed automatic. Engine upgrades include an aluminum radiator, performance headers, a March Performance serpentine belt kit and a stainless-steel dual exhaust system.

The odometer displays 90,000 miles, although total chassis mileage is unknown.

This Mercury Eight’s auction ends June 23 at 11:40 a.m. PDT.
