1933 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron CL takes Best of Show at Hillsborough

-

A 1933 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron CL won Best of Show honors this past weekend at the 64th annual Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance at the Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame, California.

“Closed cars rarely win top honors, especially when the field was as competitive as it was on Sunday,” Lorenzo Nannini, who owns the Chrysler with his wife, Susan, is quoted in the post-concours news release.

“We bought the car back in 2015 and spent a year restoring it,” he added.  “The exceptional work of our restorer, Martin Hveem, attests to the car’s true beauty and distinction.”

Bruce Canepa’s Porsche 917K among featured vehicles at the concours

The concours featured a 14-vehicle Preservation Class; a class called the “Evolution of Speed” with 10 of the fastest cars of the 20th Century, one from each decade; and Porsche as the featured marque and showcasing, from the Bruce Canepa collection, the 917K that won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1970. Canepa also showed a 917/10, 935, 962, 959SC and 918 Spyder.

Canepa was featured guest for the pre-event Kick-Off party. The weekend also included the Hillsborough Tour d’Elegance.

The concours raised funds for several charities, including Autism Speaks, The Guardsmen, Gatepath, and the Hillsborough Schools Foundation.
