Fans of The Fast and The Furious movies can get in on the extreme action when the actual 1993 Toyota Supra stunt car used throughout the 2001 film comes to auction next month.

Special designed and built for The Fast and The Furious by movie-prop and special-effects veteran Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop in El Segundo, California, the Supra was driven by the late star Paul Walker and used in a number of the film’s spectacular stunts.

Mecum Auctions will offer this memorable Supra at its 28th Original Spring Classic sale May 12-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Mecum places an aggressive $150,000-$200,000 estimated value on the movie car.

The custom Supra is one of a number of nearly identical cars built for various scenes in the film. This one, though, has the key provenance of actually being used in the stunt scenes, including the wild final race against actor Vin Diesel’s character driving a 1970 Dodge Charger, which does not end well for the Charger.

For classic car fans of a certain age, those brought up on custom sport-compact imports, drifting competitions and The Fast and The Furious movies, the Paul Walker stunt Supra has a Holy Grail aspect that should heat up the bidding. Expect to see more of these types of performance cars – this generation’s version of custom hot rods – coming to collector-car auctions.

The sale of the movie car also could bump up prices of all vintage Supras, which have been making headway as collector cars that are still affordable. Not this one, though.

And the timing couldn’t be better as the seventh edition of The Fast and The Furious series is currently accelerating to supercharged profits at the box office.

  1. Worth every penny. I would buy it if I could. Thank you Barrett Jackson. Rip Paul Walker
