Car show as honeymoon destination?

-

More than 6,000 people, including a honeymooning couple, turned out for the inaugural Super Scramble at Bicester Heritage, the former British air force training center that has been developed into a classic car venue for shows and a variety of related businesses.

The supersized version of the Sunday Scrambles featured the first public appearance at Bicester of the Mullin Automotive Museum’s 1939 Delage D8-120, a one-off gas-turbine Rover-BRM driving on the Bicester test track, the first running of Art in Transport and Autojumble at a Scramble, and the 2013 Mercedes-AMG F1 driven by Lewis Hamilton being revved from time to time during the day.

“More than 100 carefully selected vehicles were invited from around the world to take part and crowds were treated to display laps from more than 80 of these as well as to the noise and drama of several other exceptional cars being started and run-up throughout the day,” organizers said.

The newlyweds

The day also included a nearly married couple who made the Super Scramble their honeymoon destination. Mark Petersen and Jana Brabencova are car enthusiasts who were married two days before the event and decided to spend their honeymoon weekend at Bicester Heritage.

The couple arrived in their vintage Speedwell Sprite.

“Both Jana and I are mad about cars and we’ve been to virtually every big event at Bicester Heritage so far – we just love them,” said the groom.

“When we were planning everything we talked about the honeymoon and both came up with idea of spending the day at the Super Scramble! It might not be the traditional honeymoon but it was absolutely perfect for two people who are both so into their cars and it’s a day we’ll always remember.”

  1. What an amazing & unique way of celebrating honeymoon. I just loved that classic car with "Just Married" written at the back. By the way Congratulations to both of you, Mark Petersen and Jana Brabencova.

    • Thank you for your kind comments.
We regularly attend events at Bicester Heritage and due to other factors this was our choice for our one day honeymoon.
