Silverstone Auctions reports sales of £5.7million ($7.09 million) for its recent sale at the Race Retro show in Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, England. Silverstone notes that the sales total was more than £1 million ($1.24 million) more than the same sale last year and represented a record total for the event.

The  2017 sale also posted a 76 percent sell-through rate.

The top sale was £439,875 ($547,380) for a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT. The price was nearly $175,000 more than the pre-sale low estimate on the car, one of the few fitted with wheel flares at the factory.

Also coming from the same private-owner’s stable was a 1998 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta that had been driven only 7,017 miles and sold for £136,125 ($169,393), a figure again well above its pre-sale estimate.

Meanwhile, a 2005 Ford GT formerly owned by Formula One racer Jenson Button sold for £264,375 ($328,988).

“Wow, what a fantastic set of results for our vendors,” Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said a news release. “I’m delighted that once again our winning combination of sensible estimates and reserves, presentation, pre-sale marketing and auction atmosphere has paid dividends.

“This was certainly our best-ever Race Retro catalogue and buyers clearly agreed, so it’s wonderful to see so many going home incredibly happy with their purchases.”

More than 130 collector vehicles were hammered sold during the sale.

“This has been a great start to the auction season and we now look forward to our next sale and speaking with prospective sellers soon,” Whale added.

Silverstone Auctions’ next event is its May Sale, scheduled for May 13 at the Silverstone racing circuit.
