Silverstone Auctions’ 2022 season opener is being held at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon on March 5 and 6. The Hendon site is on the outskirts of London and provides a venue rich in military history for the classic car auction and the site will also host various RAF exhibits during the event.

The docket is filled with classic and racing cars, along with automobilia.

A 1939 Frazier Nash-BMW 327/80 cabriolet, one of 19 produced and one of 12 said to have survived, that was recommissioned by BMW highlights the extensive docket.

The 327/80 cabriolet was developed from an agreement between BMW and Frazier Nash of Middlesex in 1934. Frazier Nash became the general importer of these German vehicles in the British market and were sold under the “Frazer Nash BMW” moniker. This example was restored in 2005 and has been part of BMW UK’s Historic Fleet since 2015.

A 1991 Porsche 911 (964), an original C16 UK spec right-hand drive example, was sold by Silverstone Auctions in 2016 and is being offered again with extensive documentation. The 3.3-liter flat-6 boxer engine was rebuilt in 2012 by the previous owner.

Racing enthusiasts can bid on Adrian Newey’s first Formula 1 design with the 1988 Leyton House March F1, March-Judd 881, presented in its livery from the 1988 Japanese Grand Prix.

When Newey joined the Williams F1 team he took the basic elements of the March-Judd 881 and it became the basis of Williams’ FW14 that Nigel Mansell piloted to the 1992 F1 Driver’s Championship.
