Welcome to The ClassicCars.com Journal! By visiting our Journal, you’ve joined a vibrant community of dedicated classic and collector car fans. Like all communities, we have some basic “house rules” that you should know so that everyone has the same opportunity to help out, learn, and exchange ideas.

Posting Comments

We allow semi-anonymous comments.  This means that while we don’t require you to register and create an account with us, we do ask you to provide us with a user name (for display purposes) and a valid email address. We won’t display your email address publicly. If you would like to use your Facebook or Twitter account to post comments, that’s fine, too. If you have a Gravatar, your avatar image will display in your comments as long as it has a “G” or “PG” rating.

All comments are moderated. This means that your comment won’t be publicly visible until one of our moderators approves it. Please note that moderation isn’t necessarily the same thing as censorship. Generally speaking, our moderators will allow any comment as long as it falls within these Community Guidelines. In case you were wondering, here’s what will get your comment edited or deleted:

  • Spam
  • Links to sites with viruses, spyware, and other malware
  • Insults, bullying, and other personal attacks
  • Profanity or other content inappropriate for an all-ages audience
  • Discrimination
  • Trolling or other comments posted in bad faith
  • Any other behavior that, at the moderators’ discretion, detracts from a friendly, engaging, helpful and productive conversation

Comment Guidelines

We ask everyone to use a single identity (user name and email address) for all comments. If we see someone posting under multiple aliases or with phony email addresses, we reserve the right to ban all their comments.

Don’t be bashful! Reach out and communicate–with us, the editors, and your fellow classic car buffs.

Please respect others. Every classic vehicle is precious, regardless of make, model, value or condition. Please don’t be a jerk, and if you see anyone else acting like one, just ignore them. Maybe they’ll go away.

Before posting a rant about a dealer, auction house or private seller, please understand that classic vehicles are, by definition, complex machines at an advanced age, and any two reasonable people can disagree on just about any aspect of a vehicle’s condition and/or the terms of a sale. Our community is not a complaints registry; rather, it’s a place to discuss the shared joys and challenges of the hobby. Please post in this spirit.

While it shouldn’t happen often, our moderators reserve the right to remove or edit comments retroactively.

Let’s Talk

If you see any behavior that should be brought to a moderator’s attention, please tell us about it. If you posted a comment in good faith and don’t know why it hasn’t been approved, feel free to ask about it.
