Interesting Finds: 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302

A Trans Am racecar

-

The first-generation Ford Mustang has deep roots as the original American pony car. One of the vehicles participating in the Future Collector Car Show this year was a very special 1970 Mustang Boss 302. Power for this muscle car came from a 302ci V8 paired with a Toploader four-speed manual transmission.

According to the owner, the car originally resided in California and Washington and was kept in storage from 1980 until 2015 until being brought out of hibernation and subsequently treated to a complete inside-and-out restoration. The paint finish was redone in the original Medium Blue color, and the interior was refurbished with high-back black vinyl bucket seats and a period-correct push-button radio. This is a great example of a detail-oriented Mustang build!

Check out the listings on ClassicCars.com if you are interested in joining the Mustang ownership ranks.

Tyson Hugie is a Phoenix-based automotive enthusiast who has been writing for The Journal since 2016. His favorite automotive niche is 1980s and 1990s Japanese cars, and he is a self-diagnosed “Acura addict” since he owns a collection of Honda and Acura cars from that era. Tyson can usually be found on weekends tinkering on restoration projects, attending car shows, or enjoying the open road. He publishes videos each week to his YouTube channel and is also a contributing author to Arizona Driver Magazine, KSLCars.com, NSX Driver Magazine, and other automotive publications. His pride and joy is a 1994 Acura Legend LS coupe with nearly 600,000 miles on the odometer, but he loves anything on four wheels and would someday like to own a 1950 Buick Special like his late grandfather’s.
