Classic Goat style with modern horsepower

-

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1972 Pontiac GTO that is powered by a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 backed by a six-speed manual transmission. Features include rear spoiler, power steering and brakes, upgraded climate controls and custom striping. Finished in Orbit Orange over a custom tan leather interior, this rust-free 1972 Pontiac GTO comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

The exterior has been refinished in Orbit Orange. Features include hood-mounted tachometer, front fender vents, dual sport mirrors with a driver-side manual remote, and custom accent striping.

A set of Pontiac Rally II wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich radial T/A tires.

The interior has been upholstered in tan leather with embroidered GTO emblems. Features include custom-sculpted door panels, manual windows, three-spoke steering wheel with wood rim, tilt steering column, console-mounted shifter, Vintage Air climate controls and vintage-look AM/FM stereo.

The instrument panel includes a 140-mph speedometer, clock and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure and coolant temperature. An 8,000-rpm tachometer is mounted on the hood. An additional set of gauges for the oil pressure, water temperature and voltage are located under the dashboard, along with an aftermarket 8,000-rpm tachometer. The odometer reads 35,251 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

The original X-code 455 HO V8 has been replaced with an LS2 6.0-liter V8 with approximately 400 horsepower, which is backed by a six-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include GTO engine covers, smooth body-color firewall, fresh air intake tube and tube exhaust manifolds. The selling dealer states that regular service was completed every six months, with the last service being completed on March 11, 2023, which included an oil change.

This GTO is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear-drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the image gallery on the auction page.

The auction for this 1972 Pontiac GTO hardtop ends on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 1:15 p.m. (PDT)
