The early Mustangs are technically 1965s, but there’s enough running changes between April and September 1964 that the midyear distinction is welcome. In this car’s case, the obvious exclusive for early cars was the 260 V8, which was usurped by the 289.
Ya gotta admire a company that was at the top of its game. Chevrolet passenger cars became the “Hot One,” Corvettes finally had a V8 and pickups like this 3100 sported a grille that would made a Ferrari envious.
Tuesday, March 28
An unrestored Ford panel truck sounds like an opportunity to putt around town while you make grander plans for a build. Speedometer goes up to 90, which may be optimistic for the trusty ol’ 233 inline-six.
Sure, GM lowered compression across the board, but the Z/28 still put out 330 horsepower. That doesn’t sound emasculated to me! Combine that with four-speed, AM/FM stereo, and this fantastic Lime Green hue and you’ll realize being able to use pump gas is a nice compromise.

This custom Bronco perfectly reflects the current zeitgeist of the hobby. Initially I thought it was a late-model version, likely due to the grille, but a closer look show it obviously be a classic version. Looks to be properly built with a 427 stroker, digital Holley EFI gauge panel and more.
What you see here is pretty much how it was in 1978, aside of the Foose wheels. I’d drive it around with the bored, dual-quad 283 on full display — it would be a shame to cover it up. I’d also ditch the wheels and find something more vintage. Really, really like this one.

Though it has a tepid 302, this Torino features 23,306 miles and is painted in a great color, so it needs a caretaker more than just any old buyer. You will spend a long time trying to find another one like this though, if you try, a 351 four-barrel would be sweet.

To be rich in 1972 meant driving this. A step up from the Silver Shadow, and rarer than the Corniche convertible by a factor of three, this Golden Sand coupe features an inviting dark brown leather interior and that wonderful burl walnut dashboard.
If you close your eyes and imagine a serviceman sampling one of these overseas, then that’s how it all began for sports cars in America. I drove one of these 28 years ago so I understand what a revelation it could have been to those used to big American cars.
