This week on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, we have a collection of vehicles handpicked by our Journal writing team. There are no vehicles ending on Monday for Presidents Day, but there will be new auctions live. Make sure you check out all the current listings ending February 21-24 here.

1961 Austin-Healey “Bugeye” Sprite MKI

This Bugeye Sprite is powered by a 948cc A-Series inline-four engine paired with a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. The silver exterior was refinished by the previous owner.

1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Power is provided by a 502ci that was bored and stroked to 551ci. The 551ci V8 engine features Brodix aluminum heads, forged rotating assembly, and a solid roller camshaft. The engine is mated to a three-speed T400 automatic transmission with a manual valve body, a 3,700-rpm stall converter, and a 3.08:1 rear end with hardened axles.

1978 Chrysler New Yorker

This Chrysler is finished in light gray and features a color-matched vinyl roof, concealed headlights, rear wheel skirts and rides on new Coker whitewall tires. It’s powered by a 440ci V8 big-block V8 engine paired with a column-shifted TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.

1983 Jeep CJ-7

My impression is that these are the last of the old Jeeps, and that the later redesign was the first step towards a softer Jeep. Of course, square halogens do not a soft Jeep make, but the CJ-7 seems to be the one for traditionalists, no?

1985 Volkswagen Beetle

Here we have a naturalized Mexican Beetle given a tasteful custom treatment. I really dig the Sprint Star-esque wheels. People who complain they’re being priced out of the hobby haven’t seen the fun they can have with this.

1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible

By 1973, Mercury’s pony car was one degree away from being a personal-luxury car. Leather-trimmed interior was standard with the XR-7, so drop the top and unbutton your shirt for the complete effect.

1967 Chevrolet El Camino

I’ve had this dream to buy an El Camino, substitute a Beaumont grille, and build an L79 for it. This car already has most of the bones needed for that, including a TREMEC five-speed. Too bad I need a back seat!

1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL

An early “R107” SL that’s been pimped out with 1980s Zender body kit, Ronal wheels and Euro-spec headlights. I’m getting Miami Vice vibes at the moment, so cue the Jan Hammer music and pour a mimosa for my girl.
