Tyson Hugie’s Favorites of 2022

-

In our Journal countdown to the end of 2022, we are sharing a selection by our writers of their favorite stories from the year. Today’s list is from Tyson Hugie, who you may recognize from his recent appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage.

This story reminded me that at the end of the day, we aren’t just helping people buy or sell cars. Our organization actually helps create and preserve family memories. This story had to do with a special Camaro finding a new home after its loving owner passed away.

I loved piecing this story together because restoring this car has been one of the most rewarding (and challenging!) things I’ve ever done. I can’t wait to have a grand finale when the final product is show-ready.

Being able to showcase some of my own family’s “car history” was one of the highlights of my year. I think my great-grandfather would be proud of knowing that his service station received some attention 100 years later.

The fact that 1980s and 1990s cars are classis now is awesome to me. I’m so glad to see the increased appreciation for this era of cars, so being able to attend RADwood and write a story about it was a definite highlight of the year.
