STEM Fest at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Breeds Future Auto Engineers

“Gearing Towards the Future” initiative with SciTech Institute culminates in Jan 2023

This past summer, Barrett-Jackson partnered with SciTech Institute to support an automotive STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) initiative for Arizona students. Called Gearing Towards the Future, the culmination of this partnership will be on display at STEM Fest during Barrett-Jackson’s auction in Scottsdale in January 2023.

You may be wondering why your favorite automotive auction has an interest in education fundamentals? For the answer, ClassicCars.com Journal chatted with the Vice President of Corporate Sponsorships for Barrett-Jackson, Peter Lubell.

Barrett-Jackson has been a leader in collector car auctions for over 50 years, and what better way to give back to the community than by engendering the interests of youths in the “automotive arts” by helping develop the next generation of automotive engineers and technicians? Sights are set beyond metropolitan Phoenix, though, as the goal is to expand to other markets where Barrett-Jackson has a presence.

Lead Writer Diego Rosenberg is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and Princeton, New Jersey, giving him plenty of exposure to the charms of Carlisle and Englishtown. Though his first love is Citroen, he fell for muscle cars after being seduced by 1950s finned flyers—in fact, he’s written two books on American muscle. But please don’t think there is a strong American bias because foreign weirdness is never far from his heart. With a penchant for underground music from the 1960-70s, Diego and his family reside in the Southwest.
