Phoenix Raceway is hosting the upcoming NASCAR Championship Weekend. The NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, Camping World Truck and ARCA Menard Series West are holding their respective championship races on the weekend of November 4-6, 2022, with NASCAR champions from four different series being crowned at the one-mile oval racetrack.

As a NASCAR fan in Phoenix, I want to share the pertinent info for those that are watching the race in the stands or on TV. It’s the third straight season that Phoenix Raceway has hosted the championship weekend, and I can attest that it’s a great track at which to see a race. The track has good sightlines from the stands, lots of parking and a solid food selection, though I must advise that traffic can be a nightmare on your way in and out of Phoenix Raceway. Give yourself plenty of time and stay patient as you drive through Avondale to get to the track. Also, for those staying at the track, the Gecko Campground opened at 7 a.m. on Monday and all spaces are already sold out.

Schedule and News

Food and beverages are integral parts for a proper day at a NASCAR race. So is waiting in line for your food and trying not to miss too much of the race. Keeping that in mind, Phoenix Raceway has a pair of concession stands with checkout-free technology — you don’t wait in line to pay for your purchases. You register with your payment info before entering the concession stand, and then you can grab your preferred food and beverage selections. Through a form of technology that I will never be able to grasp, you are charged for the items when you leave the concession stand.

Pro wrestler Big E will introduce the NASCAR Cup Series Championship 4 drivers before the race. The WWE star drove the pace car for the 2022 Daytona 500 and is stoked about his upcoming duty.

“I’m going to bring it,” Big E says. “I know the energy and strength it takes to win championships, and so my introduction of the four drivers vying for the Bill France Cup will match their intensity. May the best driver win!”

As previously published, country music star Jon Pardi will perform a pre-race concert before Sunday’s race.
