“The Heartbeat of America” was a household phrase between 1987 and 1994 as Chevrolet’s popular slogan when it made the rounds on television commercials and radio ads. Three decades later, the heartbeats of many Chevrolet vehicles from that area continue in good health and rhythm.

At just 91,000 miles, this two-tone C/K Series pickup is an original, unmodified example. “One-family ownership and a survivor,” the listing states. “This pickup was purchased new in 1989 by my father in Loveland, Colorado. Was painstakingly cared for and garage-kept the past 32 years.”
This truck comes from the fourth generation of the C/K Series which initially launched for the 1988 model year in both standard and extended cab configurations (a crew cab came later). This platform carried an internal codename of “GMT400,” and today has become more popular under the nickname “OBS” (or Old Body Style). This example from 1989 uses a standard cab with an eight-foot bed.
Powering this truck is a fuel-injected 5.7-liter V8 that received factory ratings of 210 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque when new. According to the seller, the drivetrain received recent work including replacement of the alternator and the serpentine belt. The braking system has also been serviced, and the air conditioning reportedly blows cold. A gray cloth bench seat offers seating for three abreast inside the cab.
The seller is including documentation such as a window sticker, an owner’s manual, and a service manual, so this pickup comes with all the requisite collector-grade memorabilia. All it takes is one look inside the cargo area to agree that this truck has seen very little, if any, workhorse duty over the years.
Most of these pickups were put through their paces as utility trucks, tow rigs, or construction haulers and have long-since been retired. This Silverado still looks show-ready even at 31 years old.
