Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1966 Pontiac Ventura two-door hardtop. Originally purchased from Cliff West Motors in Fort Payne, Alabama, this Pontiac is currently powered by a 400 with Tri-Power induction and a four-speed manual transmission. Features include Pontiac’s aluminum eight-lug wheels, factory tachometer, AM/FM radio, and power steering and brakes. Refinished in Barrier Blue with a white vinyl top over a blue vinyl interior, this Pontiac comes from the selling dealer with Pontiac Historic Services documentation, copy of the order sheet, the original fender skirts, three-speed manual transmission, steering column and steering wheel, correct date-coded 421 block, additional documentation and clear New Jersey title.

1966 Pontiac Ventura

In 1966, the Ventura was a trim package for the Catalina that included fancier interior, fender skirts and other trim. Originally finished in Barrier Blue (Code P) with a Cameo Ivory (Code C) painted top, the body was repainted under previous ownership eight years ago with a white vinyl roof replacing the painted top. Features include a fender-mounted antenna, full-length bodyside trim and owner-added “Hurst-Equipped” badge.

The front bench seat, matching rear seat, trim and door panels are upholstered in blue vinyl per the Ventura Custom package. Features include blue carpeting, manual remote driver’s mirror, power steering and brakes, simulated woodgrain accents, AM/FM radio and two-spoke Pontiac steering wheel. This Ventura was originally built with the standard column-shifted three-speed manual transmission but it has been upgraded to a floor-mounted four-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter.

A 120-mph speedometer, factory 8K-rpm tachometer, clock and gauges for the voltage and fuel level are located ahead of the driver. A pair of aftermarket Sunpro gauges, which includes readouts for the coolant temperature and oil pressure, is located under the dashboard. The analog odometer reads 112K miles, which the selling dealer states is accurate.

Power is currently provided by a 400 V8 topped by Tri-Power carburetion and intake, plus the four-speed manual upgrade. Underhood features include chrome valve covers, chrome Tri-Power air cleaners and windshield washer.

The Ventura came factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and solid rear axle. Dual exhaust outlets exit at the rear. Braking is provided by power drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the photo gallery.

With the sale, the selling dealer will include Pontiac Historic Services documentation, order sheet and reproduction window sticker, date-coded 421, rear fender skirts, original transmission, steering column and steering wheel, and additional documentation.
